Silent Auction Description Laser engraved Welsh slate depicting “King” from the animated series “The Owl House”, decorated with glyph designs from the show: Light, Fire, Ice and Plant.

The surface has been coated with varnish.

No pigmentation has been applied.

The Owl House is one of my favourite animations. After first watching it, it etched itself onto my brain. This is rare for me to experience this. Therefore for this year, I wanted to celebrate this great show with my favourite character design. Cave murals greatly inspired me, and I wanted to show what fun happens when you zap slate with a laser. I also wanted to share my appreciation of the beauty of slate.

The slate was sourced from the hillside near the Carneddau (pronunciation: carn - eh - thy IPA: /ˈkar.nɛð/) mountains, in North Wales, near a town called Bethesda. Slate quarrying has significantly impacted the area, like many other slate towns across Wales. It’s a very coloured history, and I recommend reading it.
